Dr. John J. Sygielski Born and raised in Cleveland , Ohio , John "Ski" Sygielski, was named the third President at Lord Faifax Community College in August 2003.  Ski attained a bachelor's degree in philosophy, master's degrees in education and business administration, and a doctorate degree in education - the only one in his working-class family to graduate from college.  His work experience encompassed health care, corporate training, elementary, secondary and post-secondary education, and consulting in the public and private sectors.  In 1999 he was hired as the first Vice Chancellor for Workforce Development in the Virginia Community College System responsible for organizing and developing corporate training units within the State's 23 community college system.  From 1990 until 1999, he developed a corporate training unit at the nation's largest single-campus community college in the US - outside Chicago.  Prior to 1990, "Ski" developed corporate training and technology transfer units at two Fortune 500 companies for new lines of computer products.  "Ski," an avid bicyclist, lives near Front Royal, VA (in northern Shenandoah Valley) with his 6 year-old Basenji, Tyler.
