CBM Technologies,
Inc., a privately held,multi-million dollar software development company
headquartered in Atkins, Virginia, began as a one-man computer consulting
company when Virginia native Joe Ellis launched the company in 1980
with $400 and a vision. After earning undergraduate degrees in chemistry,
biology, and mathematics during four years at Emory and Henry College,
Mr. Ellis began his quest to develop TEDS®, a robust, highly functional
and stable Learning Management System (LMS) system. Today, TEDS, The
People Resource Planning solution, has grown into one of the
world's leading workforce management and human resource development
software systems serving millions of users in more than 90 countries.
TEDS is also the name of the subsidiary company of CBM Technologies
that produces TEDS software.
Much of TEDS'
success can be attributed to Mr. Ellis' vision in creating a consortium
of CEOs and HR executives from the world's leading companies; people
who share his vision of providing businesses with the means to manage
the education and development of their employees, and to build the
workforces that their business strategies require. Thanks to the
work of some of the world's largest and best-known corporations,
this group of experts, the TEDS Consortium, comes together regularly
to shape the growth and development of TEDS based upon "best
practices" forged from the real-world experience of its members.
This innovative approach to product development keeps TEDS ahead
of the innovation curve. TEDS Consortium membership includes: Applied
Materials, BellSouth, DaimlerChrysler, Eastman Chemical Company,
Florida Power & Light, GE Medical Systems, GE Capital, Intel,
Nortel Networks, Sandia National Laboratories, Telcordia Technologies,
Texas Instruments and Verizon.
In addition
to Mr. Ellis' expertise in education, business, and technology,
his commitment to lifelong learning has gained him the respect of
many organizations and associations. His efforts to promote the
synergistic benefits of instructional technologies, the Personal
Computer, and the World Wide Web are evidenced by Mr. Ellis' membership
on Virginia Tech University's Teaching Inquiry with the Latest Technology
(TILT) Board of Directors.
In 2001, CBM
Technologies launched the TEDS Global Training Bank, a Web-based
software application that is used by companies to manage e-commerce
training via contract or account "credits." The system
greatly simplifies external training account management, thereby
increasing profitability from training sold by one enterprise to
another.
In 2002, CBM
Technologies launched TEDS Job Vision, a Web-based software
application that is used by companies to insure that they have the
right employee in the right job at the right time. The application
rounds out a complete and unique suite of Human Capital Development
software.
